The Virtual Play Away Day is a workshop led by our experienced tutors, conducted via Zoom, and is open to anyone playing a string or wind band instrument at grade 2+ and aged 16 or under.
We’ll meet online at 10am and the session will run until 12.30pm (with breaks!). During that time we’ll have a warm up together and get to know Kander and Ebb’s iconic ‘Theme from New York, New York’. We’ll break into smaller sectionals to work on any tricky bits, come back to take part in the SScOT Quiz – a crucial part of any Play Away Day! – and then play through New York, New York all together.
The Virtual Play Away Day is open to any child aged under 16 who play a string or wind band instrument. We recommend a minimum level of grade 2, though please bear in mind there will be less individual support available than there is at our in-person Play Away Days – participants should be reasonably confident sight-reading and playing along with a recording.
The cost of the workshop is £10 per participant. We welcome multiple children from individual families but please ensure you register each child separately to ensure you receive the correct music.
Financial support is available for those who are unable to pay for the session. Please contact email@example.com.
The team for the workshop will be Susan Dingle (brass), Katrina Gordon (wind), Joanna Petrie (upper strings) and Shelagh Fuller (lower strings) – all familiar faces to those who have attended our Play Away Days before. But if you haven’t, we’re looking forward to meeting you!
The deadline for signing up is Sunday 22 November. Full joining details and music will be sent out in the week leading up to the event.
